Great Programs
Don't miss some of these unique and interesting programs we have coming soon to HTFL:
Sunday, March 6 at 2pm--we will show a film about the life of Alice Paul, a woman born in Mt. Laurel, New Jersey, who attended Swarthmore College and the University of Pennsylvania for her Ph.D.; she was directly involved in the movement to fight for equal rights for women, and most significantly, a woman's right to VOTE.
Saturday, March 12 at 2pm--experience Native American Indians in full dress with live music and stories; this is truly a program for ALL AGES!
Sunday, March 13 at 2pm--a facilitator from the Alice Paul Institute in New Jersey will be here to conduct a Mother/Daughter Leadership Program-registration suggested.
Thank you so much for supporting our programs through your attendance and annual appeal donation.
At the Haverford Township Free Library, we are so much more than books.........
2011 Annual Appeal
The Haverford Township Free Library's 2011 Annual Appeal is underway and, to put it plainly, we need your support. At your request, HTFL reinstated 6 hours of library public service this year-now open on Friday and Saturday from 10am to 5pm, but not without a cost. Of the approximately $40,000 needed to make this happen, the Commissioners voted to give us $20,000 towards the cost for staff and utilities. The other half needs the help from you, our loyal supporters.
As you are probably aware, State and County funding was reduced by an additional 11% for 2011, and with additional staff needs to serve you better, we are looking at a deficit in our budget for this year. But you can assist us in our cause-to bring you better library materials, resources, programs and the staff to handle it all.
Please give to the 2011 Annual Appeal by your donation. You can send a check payable to HTFL Annual Appeal, or make an online donation through our website .
Thank you, as always for your support!
Library Hours Have Changed!
As you know, 2010 was unkind to HTFL and libraries across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania with a cut in state funding of 21%. As a result we were forced to cut some of our hours of public service. Although there is another reduction of 11% for 2011 in state funding, there is good news. The Township of Haverford Board of Commissioners approved additional funding of $20,000 to the 2011 library appropriation to assist the library in reopening 6 of the lost hours. The new hours for HTFL are as follows:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday - 10am to 9pm
Thursday - 10am to 6pm
Friday and Saturday - 10am to 5pm
Sunday - 1pm to 5pm
Please take the time to say THANK YOU to your commissioner and to Larry Gentile, Township Manager for the hard work in resolving this issue on our behalf.
