Although we still have another week left for Summer Reading Club (SRC), it's clear that the community has really championed SRC again this year.
Over the course of 8 weeks, hundreds of people have participated in the various reading challenges and thousands have attended programs. Additionally, in June and July alone over 57, 300 items were checked out from HTFL. Our vibrant community sends a clear message every year: we value reading.
Summer Reading Wrap-up
SRC is coming to a close this week and that means grand prize raffles for teens and adults, and getting to dunk Ms. Shannon for the kids! The teen grand prizes are raffles for $100 and $50 gift cards to Amazon. The adult grand prize raffles are for 2 tickets to Longwood Gardens, 2 tickets to Grounds for Sculpture, a gift card to Wallingford Arts Center, and a hostess set. The winner of the Family Reading Challenge will receive a free membership to the Philadelphia Zoo. All grand prize winners will be pulled in the next week.
For kids, Ms. Shannon will be heading to the dunk tank if 350,000 minutes are read by August 16, 2017. To learn more about that event, see our Build a Bigger Party page.
Thank you to our volunteers
This is a busy time of the year for the Library, and over the summer months we not only see an increase in visitors in the building, but also the number of checked out items increases drastically. Because of the greater volume, we rely heavily on the help of our 30 dedicated teen and adult volunteers. Without their hard work, all of our summer reading programs would not be possible.
Still more to come
Just because SRC is coming to a close doesn't mean that summer is over. We still have one more Sounds of Summer Concert, as well as other ongoing adult programs. Children and teen programs will be on break, so please look for the many wonderful programs that will start up again in the fall.
