Join us for a visual presentation on rail lines in Haverford Township’s history. Historical Society researcher Rich Kerr will touch on how the many and varied railways, now spanning 190 years, precipitated the township’s transition from rural farms to suburban development. His presentation will cover:
* The Philadelphia and Columbia Railroad (part of Pennsylvania’s early “Main Line of Public Works”);
* Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR) main line;
* PRR Newtown Square Branch;
* Philadelphia and West Chester Traction Company (“Red Arrow”) trolley lines to West Chester and Ardmore;
* Philadelphia and Western Railway line to Strafford and Norristown; and
* The never-built PRR Darby Creek Low Grade Line.
The Library is pleased to be partnering with the Haverford Township Historical Society on this program.
This program is FREE and open to the public. It will be held on Zoom and registration is required. Click here to register.
