Read for the Record: Thank You, Omu!

Event Details

Join us for Jumpstart’s Read for the Record®, a global movement towards transformative change in early education.

On 11/7, children and adults around the world will highlight the importance of children’s literacy by participating in the world’s largest shared reading experience.

This year, the Haverford Township Free Library will feature guest readers throughout the day reading this year’s campaign book, Thank You, Omu!” by Oge Mora, in the library and on our social media channels. Participate in the community art project and create a neighborhood similar to Omu’s!

About the book

“Thank You, Omu!” tells the story of a generous elderly woman who makes a fantastic pot of thick red stew. The scent from her stew travels all throughout her neighborhood and brings all her community members over to her home for a taste. By the end, she shares a lovely feast with her neighbors where everyone contributes to the meal.
