Note from the Director
8/18/22
We are pleased to be able to share with you the exciting news that the Library’s renovation plans are back on track.
We are grateful to the Haverford Township Commissioners and Township officials for their efforts to work with the Library to make sure that we can move forward with this renovation and expansion project. The Township Zoning Board has approved our plans to renovate with some specified guidelines. These guidelines include: an adjustment to our addition on the 2nd floor, as well as providing additional parking spaces for patrons. The Township is committed to providing our community with these parking spaces.
Our architects have started developing the design of the addition over the parking lot, which is approximately 5,000 sq. ft. With this addition, we will be creating a suitable teen library to accommodate our teen and tween population. We will also have a dynamic maker space/innovation zone, multiple tutor rooms, a sensory area, a place for preschoolers, an intergenerational area, and a quiet reading room for our seniors.
We are committed to making this project as seamless and transparent as possible. A detailed estimated timeline will be made available in the near future. As we continue to make plans for this renovation, we will share updates and progress on this project in a timely manner. Please look for updates, changes, and timelines on our website, our newsletter The HTFL Connection, and on social media.
Currently, we are exploring various possibilities for a temporary location while the current library building is closed for renovations. An important goal for us during this period of renovation is to make sure that the community enjoys all or most of the Library’s excellent services, collections, and programs.
We are excited that this highly anticipated renovation is here, and that we are on our way to providing our community with a 21st Century library!
Warm regards,
Sukrit Goswami, Library Director
