PAWS for Reading

Event Details

Is your child a reluctant reader?

PAWS for Reading has returned to HTFL! This special program gives children the opportunity to read aloud to certified therapy dogs in a calm, judgment-free environment. It’s perfect for kids who are learning to read—or who just love dogs!

The PAWS team will visit the library on the second Saturday of each month, offering 15-minute reading sessions for beginning and reluctant readers. Children can bring any book they’d like to share with a furry friend.

Spots are limited—register using the link below!

Location: We meet at the Youth Services circulation desk on the second floor of the library. Please check in with a librarian when you arrive – and bring a book! Sessions take place in Study Room #1 –  caregivers will be able to observe through the glass wall.

Each reading session lasts 10-15 minutes. Please sign up for one session only. The four slots are available on a first-come, first-served basis among registrants.

Spots open on short notice – we will offer them first to children on the waitlist, then to anyone else present and interested.

If you are on the waiting list: Please check in at the desk at the beginning of the program.
