Is your child a reluctant reader?

PAWS for Reading gives children the opportunity to read aloud to certified therapy dogs in a calm, judgment-free environment. It’s perfect for kids who are learning to read—or who just love dogs!

Two separate PAWS teams will visit the library on the second Saturday of each month from 2-3pm, each team offering six 10-minute reading sessions for beginning and reluctant readers. Children can bring any book they’d like to share with a furry friend.

Spots are limited—register using the link below!

Location: Please check in at the Youth Services circulation desk on the second floor of the library when you arrive! The 12 open slots are assigned on a first-come, first-served basis among the registrants. Pick out a book and stay in the Children’s Area – we’ll call your name when it’s their turn.

Sessions take place in our two Study Rooms, so caregivers will be able to observe through the glass wall.

Please sign up each child for one session only.

Please note: Available spots sometimes open on short notice – we will offer them first to children on the waitlist, then to anyone else who is present and interested.  If you are on the waitlist: Please check in at the desk at the beginning of the program.
