Tinker Time: 3D Design for Kids Part I

Event Details

Tinker Time is a hands-on library program designed to introduce children (ages 8–12) to basic 3D design using TinkerCAD, a free and kid-friendly online 3D modeling platform. Over the course of several sessions, kids will learn how to navigate the TinkerCAD interface, use basic geometric shapes to create models, and understand the fundamentals of digital design and 3D printing.

The program includes:

  • Step-by-step tutorials: Each session focuses on a specific skill, like combining shapes, making holes, or scaling objects.

  • Creative challenges: Kids will apply what they learn by designing their own keychains, animals, or buildings.

  • Optional 3D printing: Libraries with a 3D printer can print a selected design from each participant to take home.

The program is beginner-friendly and promotes STEM learning, problem-solving, and digital creativity in a fun and supportive environment. Laptops or tablets are provided.
