Woven Wonders: Art & Story Through Weaving (Children)
Age Group: Ages 6–12
Description:
Woven Wonders is a hands-on creative arts program where children explore the world of storytelling and texture through mixed media weaving. Kids will learn basic weaving techniques using simple looms and incorporate a variety of materials—like yarn, fabric scraps, ribbon, paper, and beads.
The program will begin with a short story that introduces a theme. Inspired by the story, children will design and create their own woven piece that reflects the theme, blending art and narrative. This program encourages fine motor skills, color theory, creative thinking, and self-expression.
Objectives:
Introduce children to the basics of weaving using kid-friendly looms
Explore diverse materials and textures through mixed media
Encourage storytelling through visual art
Promote collaboration, creativity, and confidence
