MakerSpace FAQ

What is a MakerSpace?
A Maker Space is a collaborative workspace where people interested in technology, crafting, and hands-on projects can come together to share ideas, tools, and knowledge.

Who can use the MakerSpace?
The MakerSpace is open to all library patrons. Children are welcome in the company of an adult. Patrons 18 and older may use equipment such as 3D printers, Cricut or the Laser Cutter after completion of training/certification. Training is required for EACH type of equipment you wish to use. Training covers safety, software, and MakerSpace processes and guidelines.

Can my child use the MakerSpace?
Yes! Children are welcome in the company of an adult. The MakerSpace has a “low tech” corner with Lego and other stem toys.

Can I use my own materials in the MakerSpace?

  • Cricut: Yes
  • Laser Cutter: Patron materials allowed with prior approval. Original packaging required.
  • 3D Printers: Only Library provided materials may be used.

Do I have to pay to use the MakerSpace?
Use of machines and tools is free for library patrons. Cost of consumables are listed on the Cost and Consumables Questions page to the right.

When is the MakerSpace open?
The MakerSpace is open whenever the library is open! Walk-ins are welcome anytime there is not a scheduled program.
