Now let's dive in!
The Summer Reading Program, sometimes known as Summer Quest, is a FREE Summer learning program for K-12 students where you earn prizes for doing fun activities all summer long.
1000 Books Before Kindergarten
Children who have not entered Kindergarten, they have the option to participate in our 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program. This program encourages children to read 1000 Books by the time they begin Kindergarten. During the summer, children can log their books with the library or through Beanstack.
For the summer program, new and existing users can sign up to receive a Storytime/Anytime kit. With these supplies, children and their families can participate in live storytimes with demonstrations on how to use these supplies.
Summer Reading Youth
For children between two years of age and through the fifth grade, every week that you log 100 minutes of reading and complete activities, you earn a “brag” tag; you can collect all 9! You will also be entered to win weekly prizes and collect raffle tickets for our grand prize.
Summer Reading Teens
Teens and Tweens are invited to sign up for their own program! Teen Summer Reading is for those entering grades 6 through 12 in the fall (up to age 18). Read and review books and collect raffle tickets to be entered to win weekly prizes. All participants will be eligible to win a grand prize.
All Summer Reading Challenge participants can register to also participate in Summer Quest through Delaware County Libraries. This is an online option to log books and complete challenges.
Visit the virtual Youth Services Room for a sample of programs!
We are once again partnering with Delaware County Libraries for their virtual program through Beanstack. Sign up online and read any book or listen to any audiobook between June 1st and August 23rd and record it in Beanstack. Earn badges for reading and completing activities throughout the summer program!
Children who participate in summer library programs keep their minds active and enter school in the fall ready to learn and ready to succeed.
